The Wild Thing, like all Mad Dog knives, is made of Starrett 496-O1 high carbon tool steel. Hardened, then selectively tempered, the blades have a Rockwell C-scale hardness of 62 at the edge (hard as a file) and a wicked sharp. Resin impregnated handle material is impervious to just about everything. This knife was made in about the mid to late 1990’s.

Description
This is a used Mad Dog Knives WILD THING, 6″ hard chromed Starrett 496-01 blade. This is a double-edged knife, 1/4″ blade stock and incredibly durable. The handle material is the proprietary glass / epoxy composite — compression bonded to the hidden full tang and incredibly ergonomic. Early etched block letter Mad Dog trademark on the blade, overall length is exactly 10-1/2″. Condition is used and carried, this is no sock drawer Queen! You will find insertion & sharpening marks on both sides of the blade, buy it because you need an ass-kicking MDK for use and you will not be disappointed.
The knife comes with the original high-ride and slip sheaths. The high-ride has been carried, the slip sheath could nearly pass for new.
This is a somewhat rare model perfect for EDC, a great one to buy and carry vs. spending an extra $500 or $600 to buy one new. Long story short: if you need a user, save yourself some money and snap this one up!
